Corporations: Close tax loopholes
Europe needs tax justice. While every hard-working citizen and every small or medium-sized business pays its taxes on income and profits at the place of business, large companies can move their earnings to low-tax countries and pay taxes there. This form of tax dumping must finally be stopped. Companies that make profits running into billions must also pay their taxes where they work and use the existing infrastructure. The first steps towards curbing tax avoidance have already been taken with an EU directive. However, the rules are still far from sufficient. Taxation rules must be harmonised in the member states, competition law must be tightened in order to effectively combat the tax avoidance strategies of large corporations.
